Peanut Butter the Atheist’s Nightmare?
October 25, 2009I can never decide if these sort of videos are made by idiots or people that know what they are producing is wrong.
Jesus Is The Best
September 11, 2009I have been driving around Georgia the past few days. The radio stations here are interesting. From religious radio I learned:
Jesus is better than all the rest, cause only he cheated death.Ok, not really a quote, but the minister was arguing that Buddha, and Mohammad, and Joseph Smith were all dead and in their graves. If you are really interested in eternal life, then you have to put your trust in Jesus. Only he rose from the grave.
In other words zombies rule.
Julia Sweeney on Deepak Chopra
July 18, 2009Without God would there be no love? In my confusion I found someone who made it clear. Someone who had thought about this topic a lot. Now at this point I knew a little bit of science but not a lot, and that made me the perfect candidate for Deepak Chopra.
I have tried listening to one of his audio books several times, but I have never been able to stand it for more than 15 minutes.
I was so intrigued with this quantum mechanics that Deepak refers to over and over and over again in his books, that I decided to take a class in it.
And what I found is-Deepak Chopra is full of shit!
Delightfully succinct.
The Bible Is Just A Book
May 8, 2009At a recent atheist meetup the discussion turned to inconsistencies in the bible. The ex-christians got into the minutia of various passages and had a great time debating and pointing out problems.
As typically happens my eyes glaze over. To me such discussions sound like:
Here it claims the fish are red, but then says they are blue.
Yes, but do the fish have stars or cars?
No, no, there is only one fish not two!
OK, maybe not exactly like that but close. Since I have never been a believer, to me the bible is just a collection of fables. Very few people would discuss other books in such a way. It is a collection of stories written by different anonymous authors so it is unsurprising that there are inconsistencies.
I react the same way to front door proselytizers who quote bible verses to defend their position. They could be quoting from little red riding hood for all I care. The book may be meaningful for them but not at all for me.
Perhaps I will have to try reading a bit of the bible again. You never know, maybe next time we will be discussing whether the ham is green or just the eggs.
Life Without Religion
May 8, 2009I really wish I wasn’t an atheist. It would be totally necessary if we lived in a culture like the Piraha.
Tell me again why misionary work is good!

The Old Testament
February 24, 2009The Jewish people gave the Christians the old testament. Unfortunately, some Christians never got the joke.
